O QUE FAZEMOS

RESEARCH & INNOVATION

We are experts in the science of criminal data. We have developed unique models for capturing, processing and analysing primary data from different sources and levels of quality, based on the economic theory of crime, situational analysis and criminal ecology.

The cognitive computing models developed by JHM, with natural language processing algorithms for analyzing criminal records, allow us to quickly and reliably scale our findings and solutions. We are talking about years of research and partnership with universities in methods and technology, which have continuously produced and promoted the improvement of a database structured in technological solutions that meets the needs of the management and risk control of people, products or activities, or the production of analysis of economic and institutional scenarios connected to risk and victimization.

CONTROL OF ILLEGAL MARKETS

The crime and risk associated with illicit markets can be controlled and maintained at acceptable levels as long as the solutions start from precise diagnoses about the cause of the main problems, the Illicit Economy. For this to happen, it is necessary to adopt measures that impose a high cost on crime.

We assist our clients in identifying risk patterns and suggest individualized solutions, such as scenario and risk analysis; risk maps; construction of indicators and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators); among other products and services.

We also work in cooperation with public agencies, through the Census of Illicit Markets Brazil, with the provision of scientifically treated data that assist in the discussion on the expansion of the criminal cost in the process of formulating and evaluating public policies, and in legislative innovation in public security and criminal policy.

ADVOCACY ON ILLICIT ECONOMY

In Brazil, Illicit Economy is synonymous with smuggling and counterfeiting, a peripheral theme in Brazilian society, where the perception that this is only an irregular form of trade still predominates. However, Illicit Economy is much more than that, it is related to various types of trafficking, including drugs and weapons, types of violent crimes, such as car and cell phone theft, money laundering and corruption, as well as contamination of food, hygiene products and toys for children, among others.

In this context, it is necessary to increase the knowledge of society and opinion makers about the phenomenon of the Illicit Economy and its consequences, especially criminal violence, the level of losses and risks imposed on society and the productive sector, and the impact on the country’s competitiveness. That is why we launched the Illicit Economy Platform with the objective of spreading information and enabling integration between government members and sectorial experts, helping them technically to identify, measure and control illicit markets.
